1 Peter 1

1 Peter 2

Peter exhorts believers to lay aside malice and hypocrisy, and instead desire the pure milk of God's word, which will help them grow spiritually. He explains that as living stones, they are built up into a spiritual house, with Christ as the chief cornerstone. Peter also warns against being disobedient or stumbling at God's word, but encourages believers to live holy lives and follow Christ's example.

Peter instructs wives to adorn themselves with a meek and quiet spirit, rather than outward appearances. He also advises husbands to live with their wives in knowledge, giving honor to the wife as an equal partner. The chapter concludes with Peter's encouragement to suffer for righteousness' sake and to be prepared to give an answer for one's hope in Christ.

Peter encourages believers to live soberly and watchfully, having fervent charity among themselves and using hospitality without grudging. He reminds them that they are partakers of Christ's sufferings and should rejoice when his glory is revealed. Peter warns against suffering as a result of evil behavior, but rather glorifying God in their trials.

Peter exhorts the elders among the churches to care for their flocks, warning them against pride and encouraging humility. He reminds them that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble, and urges believers to submit to one another and resist Satan's attacks. The chapter concludes with a promise of future glory and perfection through Christ Jesus.
