Liberal Catholic Church of St Thomas

Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

The Saint Thomas Parish of the Liberal Catholic Church is the only parish of this Church in Canberra. Located adjacent to the Melba Shops and Nellie Hall near the corner of Chinner Crescent and Melba Court in Melba, the church features an octagonal main body with a high-pitched roof designed to resemble a Mongolian yurt and has beautiful acoustics. St Thomas the Apostle was selected as the patron saint because of his alleged doubts, reflecting the attitude of the Public Service based in Canberra, and his reputation as a builder. Sunday Holy Eucharist services at 10am are usually sung masses, and incense is used during services. The church also offers baptisms, weddings, funerals, Requiem Masses, last rites, and house blessings as required.
