St Philip's - Church Hill Anglican
Sydney, New South Wales
Church Hill Anglican comprises two Anglican churches and one parish in Sydney. St Philip's Church on Church Hill is the oldest parish in Australia, established in 1788 when Chaplain Richard Johnson conducted the first Christian service in Australia on 3 February 1788. The current St Philip's building dates to 1856. The Garrison Church in Miller's Point was established in 1839 as a church plant from St Philip's due to capacity needs. The two parishes merged on 1 November 2013. The church's vision is to fill the city with Christ's teaching through deeper discipleship, compelling community, city gospel engagement, and presence in the community.
