Lighthouse a different light
Wollongong, New South Wales
Lighthouse is a Christian church located in Wollongong, New South Wales, established in 1969 by Pastors Bill and Joan Beard. The church moved through several locations before settling at 1 Railway Station Square in 1971. Originally named Lighthouse Christian Centre, it merged with Shellharbour City Church in 2005 to become Lighthouse Church. In 2010, the church purchased The Woolshed, a former live music venue that was transformed into a cafe-restaurant, art gallery, and wedding reception venue. The church has operated various community programs including youth housing, meals programs, and Lighthouse Community Kitchen. Leadership transitioned from the founding Beard family to Paul and Annette Bartlett in 2000, and then to a collaborative leadership model led by Josh Hamman, Andy Flaherty, and Elyse Flaherty in 2023.
