The Croatian Catholic Parish of Our Lady of Bistrica in Calgary was founded on October 12, 1967, with Fra Zvonko Radošević as the founding pastor. The parish purchased its first church building in May 1968. The current church was built in 1981 under the pastorate of Fra Duje Boban and was blessed and consecrated to Our Lady of Bistrica by Cardinal Franjo Šeper on August 2, 1981. The parish maintains 311 families on its roster and 151 active families. The parish operates a Croatian School with 32 enrolled children in the 2019-2020 school year, taught by 4 teachers offering religious instruction, Croatian language, history, geography, and singing. Parish governance includes a Financial Committee of 3 members and a Church Committee of 20 members. The parish also operates a Croatian Retirees Association that meets monthly.
