Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic Church in London, Ontario is part of the Directorate of Knanaya Catholics in Canada, established under the Eparchy of Mississauga. The church serves the Knanaya Catholic community, which traces its origins to a Jewish-Christian community that migrated from Southern Mesopotamia to Kerala, India in AD 345 under merchant Thomas of Cana. The Knanaya community, consisting of approximately 400 persons from 72 families of seven clans, maintained their distinct faith, traditions, and culture while coexisting with other St. Thomas Christians. The church in London was formed as one of two ecclesiastical units under the directorate, alongside the Toronto mission. The Knanaya Catholic community now has a presence in over 60 countries and continues to grow in Canada with spiritual gatherings and pastoral care.
