St Paul's Basilica
Toronto, Ontario
St. Paul's Basilica is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Toronto, established in 1822 and located near Parliament Street in downtown Toronto. The current church building, completed in 1889, features Italian Romanesque architecture designed by Joseph Connolly. The basilica houses an all-wood organ installed in 1898 by R.S. Williams and Son, the only one of its kind in North America. The church features four major paintings in the sanctuary completed in 1893 and stained glass windows installed in 1899. The parish serves the spiritual and social needs of the community through worship, community outreach, and fellowship. The basilica is open to the public for viewing and personal prayer one hour before Mass.
