Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of Sainte Sophie is located in Montreal, Quebec at 6255 Boulevard Saint-Michel. The cathedral was established in 1925 as a Ukrainian Orthodox Brotherhood with 15 founding members. The current Byzantine-style building was constructed in 1954-1962, designed by architect V. Sichinsky and modeled after the Cathedral of St. Volodymyr in Kyiv. The cathedral was elevated to cathedral status in 1988 and features iconography completed by the Makarenko Studio of New York in 1988. The parish is a member of the Eastern Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada. The church offers services in Ukrainian and English, welcomes newcomers and refugees, and provides sacraments including baptism, marriage, communion, and confession. The parish maintains active community programs including Sunday school and a summer camp.
