The Christian Community in Canterbury

Canterbury, England

The Christian Community in Canterbury is a worldwide spiritual movement established in 1922 under Friedrich Rittelmeyer's leadership, with Rudolf Steiner contributing to its constitution and service forms. The community's center is the morning Eucharist service called The Act of Consecration of Man, open to all seekers of spiritual nourishment, peace, and enlightenment. The community celebrates Christian Year festivals and offers seven sacraments including Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage, and Anointing. Ordained priests of both genders work with congregation members to facilitate these sacramental services. Additional offerings include religious instruction for children, funeral services, evening services for special occasions, and activities for young people. The community operates as free sacramental congregations sustained by member financial support and practical involvement. Members relate to the Christian creed as a personal spiritual guide. The organization is led globally by seven lenkers and oberlenkers coordinators.
