The Manchester Oratory is a Catholic community located at St Chad's Church in Cheetham Hill Road, Manchester. It is the fourth Oratory to be established in England and was canonically erected on 1st November. The community follows the example of Saint Philip Neri and comprises secular priests and brothers living together in community. Members dedicate themselves to apostolic works including daily Mass, confessions, and preaching, with the solemn celebration of the Sacred Liturgy of the Roman Rite forming a central part of their life. St Chad's Church, the original chapel, was built in the eighteenth century after the Reformation and dedicated to Saint Chad, a seventh-century bishop of the region.
