Union Chapel is a small and friendly Baptist church located in Fallowfield, South Manchester. The congregation normally numbers around 20 people including 2-3 children, with a good mix of different ages and backgrounds. They pride themselves on being thoughtful and open with an open, exploratory approach to faith and belief that avoids dogma, fundamentalism and prescription. Sunday gatherings take varied forms including traditional hymn-prayer services, meditative styles with music and reflection, and participatory reflections. The 4th Sunday features a communion service and members business meeting followed by a simple lunch. Children are welcome and attend Junior Church classes partway through services. The church is governed by its members meeting and served by Deacons on 3-year terms, with no current minister. Worship is led by congregation members and coordinated by a Worship Group.
