Church of Our Lady of Hope, also known as Nossa Senhora De Esperanca, is located in Vypeen, Kochi, Kerala. This little-known church features exquisite altars and statues with a rich history dating back to the 1500s. The church was established by Franciscan missionaries who arrived in Cochin with Pedro Álvares Cabral on November 27, 1500. It is situated at the southern tip of Vypeen island, which extends twenty-four kilometers north-south and is separated from the mainland by the shipping channel. The parish is part of the Diocese of Cochin, the second historic diocese in India. The church houses Portuguese cultural heritage items including the Ecco Homo statue, Pascal statue, and three altars of Portuguese origin.
