Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Verapoly

The Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Verapoly is located in Kochi, Kerala. Originally known as the Apostolic Vicariate of Malabar, the archdiocese has its origins in 1657. The archdiocese oversees several heritage churches established between 1524 and 1874, including the National Shrine Basilica Our Lady Of Ransom in Vallarpadom and the Basilica Of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel and St. Joseph in Varapuzha. The archdiocese operates various commissions and committees including a Family Commission and KCYM organization that coordinate pastoral and community activities.
