Saint Gianna Church Maradu

St. Gianna Church Maradu is Asia's first church dedicated to Saint Gianna Beretta Molla, located in Kochi, Kerala near NH 47. The church was blessed on 27 January 2007 by Mar Thomas Chakiath, then Auxiliary Bishop of Ernakulam. It originated with 175 families from St James Church Poonithura and St Mary's Church Thrippunithura. The parish offers regular liturgical services including a weekly Wednesday novena of St Gianna followed by Kanjinercha. Spiritual groups including Legion of Mary and Vincent de Paul Society operate at the church. The parish maintains a Gianna Sannidhi shrine with a relic of St Gianna and conducts special observances including Good Friday celebrations with processions and Thottill Nercha for pregnant women. Plans for a new church and presbytery were approved and the foundation stone was laid on 26 May 2019.
