Kottayam, Kerala

Kurishupally, meaning the Church of the Cross, is an ancient Orthodox Syrian Church located in Puthenangady, Kottayam, Kerala, India. It is under the spiritual authority of H.H. The Catholics of the East. The church is known for its unique practice of conducting Holy Communion services (Qurbana) seven days a week, except during Nineveh lent and great lent. A large three-storied building complex in the church compound was built to commemorate H.G. Mar Theophilos's 60th birthday. The church operates a 125-year-old primary school, a 70-year-old girls high school, and a clinic.
