St. Joseph's Monastery Church in Mannanam, Kottayam, Kerala is the Mother House of the CMI Congregation, with its foundation stone laid on May 11, 1831 by Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, Fr. Thomas Palackal and Fr. Thomas Porukkara. The church is associated with Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, born February 10, 1805 at Kainakary, of the Syro-Malabar Church tradition. Mannanam has become a pilgrimage destination holding the life, legacy and mortal remains of the saint. The church offers regular Holy Mass services throughout the week and special programs including word proclamation and eucharistic adoration on specific days. The church maintains a book stall and pious article centre and hosts the annual Mannanam Bible Convention.
