St. Patrick’s Cathedral

St. Patrick's Cathedral in Pune, Maharashtra has roots dating back to around 1790 when Fr. Vincent Joaquim Menezes was sent by the Archbishop of Goa to minister to Catholics working in the Peshwa's army. In 1794, a small chapel was constructed at Nana Peth on land provided by the Peshwa, funded by contributions from Catholic army members. The first Mass at this chapel was celebrated on Christmas Day 1794. The cathedral continues to serve the Catholic community with regular daily and Sunday masses in multiple languages.
