Santhome Cathedral Basilica is a Catholic shrine located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, serving as a sacred place of worship, pilgrimage, evangelization, and reconciliation. The shrine functions as the spiritual heart of the parish, serving nearly 1,600 families and welcoming over 200,000 visitors annually, with close to one million pilgrims and tourists visiting each year from across India and around the world. Open year-round, the cathedral offers three daily Masses and more than five hours of confessions daily. The site features a ground-level museum with exhibits about St. Thomas and the history of Santhome, an image of Our Lady of Mylapore made of wood, and hosts special Masses, devotions, and concerts throughout the year.
