St. George Orthodox Syrian Church

St. George Orthodox Syrian Church is located in Padi, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and is part of the Diocese of Madras under the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. The congregation originated from a prayer group of Malayalee Christians in the Padi, Korattur and Ambattur area formed in 1966. A plot was purchased in 1976 and a chapel was consecrated in 1978. The current church building was constructed and consecrated on October 1-2, 1993, replacing the original structure. The church serves the local Malayalam Orthodox Christian community and offers regular worship services, Sunday school classes, and operates community organizations including the Sunday School, Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement, and Martha Mariya Samagam women's wing.
