Malankara Catholic Church

The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church is an Eastern Catholic sui iuris particular Church in full communion with the universal Catholic Church. It is one of the major archiepiscopal churches headed by Major Archbishop His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos. The church traces its origins to the Missions of St. Thomas the Apostle in the 1st century and employs the West Syriac Rite Divine Liturgy of St. James. The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church was formally established on September 20, 1930, as a result of a reunion movement led by Servant of God Archbishop Geevarghese Mar Ivanios.
