Macedonia 17th Street Baptist Church is located at 1405 13th Avenue North in Birmingham, Alabama. The church was founded and organized on May 15, 1885, in the home of Brother John Burns with six members. It was later moved to 17th Street between 9th and 10th Avenue North before relocating to its present location at 13th Avenue on December 12, 1965. The church has had only four pastors throughout its history. Rev. J.R. Matthews was the first pastor. Rev. O.J. Jackson and Rev. A.D. Blackmon followed, with Blackmon serving until his passing in 1995. Dr. Thomas E. Hunter became pastor in April 1996. The church's theme is 'The Church That God Is Restoring.' Services are available on Facebook and YouTube. The church offers various ministries including choirs, youth programs, Bible study, prayer hours, and counseling services throughout the week.
