The City of Saint Jude Catholic Parish is located in Montgomery, Alabama at 2048 W Fairview Ave. Founded in 1934 by Father Harold Purcell as a Catholic mission to the African-American community, the parish has 90 years of history. The parish's mission is to provide hope for the hopeless by proclaiming that no one is truly without hope who has a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. The parish gained historical prominence when it served as the final stop for the Selma to Montgomery Marchers on March 24, 1965, before they arrived at the State Capitol. The parish office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The parish is committed to human rights and social justice and provides exceptional care and assistance to the African-American community of Montgomery and the broader Deep South.
