Protection of the Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church is located at 2041 Argyle Ave in Los Angeles, California. The parish was established on June 16, 1952, with the blessing of Metropolitan Anastasy, and officially began operations in September 1952. The current church building was consecrated on July 4, 1965, in a ceremony led by Metropolitan Philaret, Archbishop John (Maximovitch), and Bishop Savva of Edmonton, with eight priests assisting. The church traces its origins to an earlier location at 150 S. Alexandria Ave before acquiring the current building in 1964. The parish has been served by numerous clergy members throughout its history and maintains Russian Orthodox traditions and liturgical practices.
