Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, located in Los Angeles, California, is the first church built in the city of Los Angeles. The original chapel of approximately 1,400 square feet was constructed in 1784 in the area of what is now the corner of César E. Chávez Boulevard and North Broadway Avenue. The current church building at its present site was dedicated on December 8, 1822, in honor of Our Lady Queen of the Angels. The church underwent extensive remodeling in the 1840s. Throughout its history, changes and restorations have been motivated by the needs of the community it serves, reflecting the dynamism of the Gospel message.
