First Bryan Baptist Church is located at 575 W Bryan Street in Savannah, Georgia. The church was organized on April 15, 1779, with Andrew Bryan ordained and installed as the First Pastor. Andrew Bryan obtained his freedom and purchased the present church site for $150.00 on January 20, 1788. The church is home to the oldest Black Sunday School, organized in 1826 by Lowell Mason, who was the Superintendent of the Independent Presbyterian Church. The church gained significant recognition in 1979 when it received one of the highest television ratings for religious broadcast programs on WJCL-ABC Channel 22 during an Easter Sunday morning broadcast. Currently, the church is led by Reverend Dr. Christopher J. Pittman and holds Sunday services at 11:00 AM, which are broadcast live on YouTube and Facebook.
