St. George JSO Church Chicago

St. George Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in Oak Park, Chicago is part of the Syriac Orthodox Church, one of the earliest established Apostolic Churches dating back to the dawn of Christianity. The church traces its spiritual lineage to Antioch, where followers of Jesus were first called Christians. Apostle Peter established his See in 37 AD and is considered the founder and first Patriarch of the Syrian Orthodox Church. The congregation recognizes the Syrian Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch as its spiritual head. The church serves as an integral part of the universal Syrian Orthodox Church and maintains the traditions and practices of this ancient Christian denomination.
