St John the Evangelist

Evansville, Indiana

St. John the Evangelist is a Catholic parish in Evansville, Indiana, founded in 1868 by German immigrant families. The parish has served three dioceses and been led by 10 bishops and over two dozen pastors throughout its 150-year history. The church building and location have changed over time. Recently, the parish has experienced significant demographic growth, expanding from a rural farming community to a thriving suburban parish serving over 600 families as Evansville's suburbs have moved northward. Despite numerous changes across generations, the parish maintains its core Catholic faith and the continuous offering of the Eucharist. Father Christopher Forler currently serves as pastor.
