The Gateway Church

The Gateway Church is a church community located in downtown Des Moines, Iowa, with a vision to practice the way of Jesus. The church brings together people from all walks of life in a shared journey of being formed by the presence of God. Gateway's core beliefs center on three pillars: Presence, which emphasizes encountering Jesus through the Spirit in community; Formation, a whole-life process of receiving God's love and embracing Jesus' teachings; and Renewal, committing to join God in transforming the city through partnerships with local organizations and nonprofits. The church believes God's embodied goodness brings wholeness to individuals, families, workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods. Sunday gatherings include worship, prayer, confession and assurance, offering, teaching, and benediction, with readings and lyrics projected in the sanctuary. Gateway Kids care and classes are offered for newborns through 8th grade.
