The church grew during the 1950s as Southwest Wichita expanded rapidly. Jim Dyer served as pastor from 1964, overseeing construction of a new sanctuary completed in 1966. Clyde McClain became pastor in 1973 and led the church to become debt-free in 1978. The 1980s brought significant growth with a 70 percent increase in Sunday School attendance between 1979 and 1983, and a children's wing was constructed in 1983. Norvel Welch later served as pastor.
