St. Athanasius Orthodox Church

St. Athanasius Orthodox Church is located in Lexington, Kentucky, in the heart of the bluegrass region. It is the first Orthodox Church in America (OCA) parish in Kentucky and operates under the Diocese of the South, under the archpastoral care of Bishop Alexander of Dallas and the South. The church serves as the primary parish and maintains two daughter communities: St. Nina Mission Church in Berea, which extends along the I-75 corridor and Wilderness Trail, and a chapel in Mercer County. The parish celebrates the Orthodox Christian liturgical calendar, including major seasons such as Lent, Holy Week, Pascha, the Ascension, and Pentecost. The church community engages in sacramental life including baptisms and the blessing of holy water.
