St. Louis Cathedral is the oldest continuously operating cathedral in the United States, located in the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter on Jackson Square with views of the Mississippi River. The current structure was largely rebuilt in the 1850s, having been rebuilt under Spanish rule in 1789 after the great fire of 1788.
