About Holy Cross Orthodox Christian Church

Located in Baltimore, Maryland, this Orthodox Christian church follows the ancient traditions and theological practices of Eastern Orthodoxy. The Orthodox Church emphasizes apostolic succession, sacramental worship, and the theological heritage developed over nearly two thousand years. Visitors to an Orthodox church typically encounter liturgical services conducted according to the Byzantine tradition, featuring iconic imagery, liturgical chanting, and ritual practices central to Orthodox worship. The service structure includes the Divine Liturgy, which is the primary form of corporate worship. Members and guests will find a church community centered on patristic theology, veneration of icons, and participation in the sacraments. The Orthodox tradition values contemplative spirituality, ecclesiastical tradition, and connection to the historic Christian faith. Those attending can expect reverent, formal worship services that differ significantly from Western Christian denominations in structure, theology, and practice.
