About Dormition of the Theotokos Orthodox Church

The Dormition of the Theotokos Orthodox Church is located in Concord, New Hampshire, serving the local Orthodox Christian community. As an Orthodox church, it follows Eastern Christian traditions rooted in the ancient apostolic faith, emphasizing liturgical worship and sacred theology. The Orthodox Church is one of the three major branches of Christianity, alongside Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. Visitors to an Orthodox church typically encounter traditional liturgical services featuring iconography, incense, and Byzantine chanting. The church venerates Mary, the mother of Jesus, as the Theotokos, or "God-bearer," which is reflected in the parish name. Orthodox Christians believe in the importance of sacramental life, including Baptism and Eucharist, and maintain a strong connection to early Christian practices. The congregation welcomes inquiries from those interested in learning more about Orthodox Christianity and its traditions.
