Sts. Kiril and Metodij Macedonian Orthodox Church Sts Kiril and Metodij
New York, New Jersey
Sts. Kiril and Metodij Macedonian Orthodox Church is an Eastern Orthodox parish located in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, serving the Macedonian community. The church is named after two Byzantine Christian theologian brothers who created the Glagolitic alphabet to transcribe Old Church Slavonic, laying foundations for Slavic languages. The parish was originally founded in 1974 in Passaic after the Macedonian Congregation took over an existing Orthodox church building. Following a fire that destroyed the original Passaic church, the congregation purchased the Meadowbrook Ballroom property in Cedar Grove in 1994 and constructed a new church on the east side of the hall. The Cedar Grove church was consecrated on May 23, 2004, with over 2000 attendees. The church serves as a spiritual and cultural center for the Macedonian community in New Jersey, maintaining Orthodox traditions and Macedonian heritage. It is part of the American-Canadian Macedonian Orthodox Diocese.
