Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is located at 125 Eagle Street in Albany, New York. Dedicated on November 21, 1852, it was designed by Irish architect Patrick Charles Keely and built by an immigrant workforce over five years at a cost of $250,000. The Cathedral's distinctive north and south spires were completed in 1862 and 1888 respectively. The structure features ornate plasterwork, carved ribs, ceiling bosses, vaulting and statuary from its original construction. The Cathedral hosts major liturgical celebrations, diocesan gatherings, and cultural events throughout the year. It serves as the principal church of the Albany Diocese and has witnessed many historic ecclesiastical events including bishop consecrations and priestly ordinations.
