Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church is located in Fairlawn, Ohio and serves the Akron area. The church was founded in 1917 by Arabic-speaking Christian immigrants from the Middle East, including Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and Jordan. These early settlers, strengthened by their connection to the ancient Orthodox Church of Antioch, established the parish under the leadership of Father George Kattouf. The church was originally built at Water and Chestnut Streets near downtown Akron. Saint George Akron is a member of the Council of Orthodox Churches of Akron and offers Divine Liturgy services and Bible study programs for its congregation.
