Saint Patrick Church, known as the 'Spirit of the Bayfront,' is the oldest Catholic parish in Erie, Pennsylvania, established in 1837. The current church building, the parish's third, was begun in 1897 with the first Mass celebrated on Christmas Day 1906. The church is renowned worldwide for its life-size hand carved wooden Stations of the Cross, massive hand painted windows, and column free architecture. The building underwent a 2012 restoration. Saint Patrick's is known for its outreach to the poor, homeless, and hungry through various ministries including a food pantry. The parish community strives to be welcoming and dedicated to proclaiming the Good News of Jesus throughout the Erie area.
