St. Lawrence Catholic Church (FSSP)

St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is a parish serving the Traditional Latin Mass under the care of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP). The current church building on State Street was consecrated on April 20, 1918. The congregation originated from the German-American population of south-central Pennsylvania in the mid-19th century. Beginning with monthly Latin Masses at Trinity High School in 1988, the community obtained permission to celebrate Mass at St. Lawrence in 2005. Following Pope Benedict XVI's motu proprio Summorum Pontificum in 2007, Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades established a canonically erected stable home for the Latin Mass at St. Lawrence and invited the FSSP to provide pastoral care. The parish continues under the oversight of Bishop Timothy Senior.
