The church was formally organized at an organizational meeting held at Immanuel Baptist Church, with the first service held the following Sunday. The charter membership grew from 69 to 126 people in the first month. On Easter Sunday, April 10, 1949, the congregation gathered on the Arlington Circle property off Cherokee Road to dedicate the land. The church's stated mission is to make disciples of Jesus by helping believers gather together, glorify God, grow in faith, and go make disciples. The church is currently in a renewal process in partnership with the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
