St George the Great Martyr

St. George the Great Martyr Orthodox Church is a parish of the Orthodox Church in America located in Pharr, Texas. Initially established as a mission in 1979, it is the only Orthodox Christian parish in the Rio Grande Valley. The congregation is diverse and rapidly growing, composed of converts from various ethnic backgrounds including Mexico, Canada, Asia, and cradle Orthodox members from Greek, Palestinian, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Ukrainian, and Turkish heritage. Services are conducted primarily in English, with select prayers offered in Spanish, Greek, Arabic, Romanian, and Slavonic. The church also operates a mission dedicated to the Dormition of the Birthgiver of God in the Brownsville-Harlingen-Los Fresnos-South Padre Island area, offering Divine Liturgy once or twice monthly. The parish welcomes Orthodox Christians of all backgrounds and visitors to participate in worship.
