St. George Indian Orthodox Church

St. George Indian Orthodox Church is the first Indian Orthodox Church in San Antonio, Texas. The church is part of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, an autocephalous Oriental Orthodox church centered in Kerala, India. The church was founded by St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, who came to India in A.D. 52. St. George Indian Orthodox Church was established to bring together people with mutual belief and interest to provide a platform for interaction, maintain ties with Kerala, and pass on rich heritage and values to future generations. The church's mission is to respond to the call of Jesus Christ by ministering to those suffering and in need throughout the world, sharing God's gifts of food, shelter, economic self-sufficiency and hope.
