Genesis Group is an official group of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints organized as a multi-stake activity group in the Utah Area. Established in October 1971 by the First Presidency to serve African-American Latter-day Saints, it continues to support black Latter-day Saints, their families, and friends through gospel-centered activities. The group hosts monthly devotionals on the first Sunday featuring music, word, and testimony. Additional annual activities include a summer BBQ in June, a Christmas party in December, and seasonal breakfasts for brothers and sisters. Genesis Group is led by President Ronell Hugh and operates under the direction of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles through the Utah Area Presidency.
