St. Mary and St. Philopater Mercurius Coptic Orthodox Church is located in Tuckahoe, Virginia and is part of the global Coptic Orthodox Church, which traces its origins to the evangelist St. Mark in the 1st century. The church began in 1993 with a few families and has grown to over 200 families. It was founded in its current form in 2017, originating from the parish of Archangel Michael and St. Anthony in south Richmond. The congregation welcomes anyone to visit for worship and offers services in both English and Arabic. The church serves a diverse community and is currently working to purchase a new building with a purchase price of $1.9 million. Beyond worship, the church provides English as a Second Language (ESL) classes free of charge every Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 PM for students of any background or skill level.
