About Holy Cross Orthodox Church

Holy Cross Orthodox Church is located in Yakima, Washington and serves the local Orthodox Christian community. The Orthodox tradition is one of the three major branches of Christianity, with roots extending back to the early church and strong historical presence in Eastern Europe, Russia, and the Middle East. Visitors to an Orthodox church typically experience a liturgical worship style that emphasizes ancient traditions, including the veneration of icons, liturgical prayers, and sacramental practices. Services are often conducted in English, Church Slavonic, or other traditional languages depending on the parish. The Orthodox Church places special importance on the Eucharist, apostolic succession, and the role of bishops, priests, and deacons in church leadership. Those interested in learning more about Orthodox Christianity or attending services are encouraged to contact the parish directly for information about worship times and visitor protocols.
