Today's verse comes from the Book of Genesis. A stolen silver cup seals Benjamin's fate in Egypt. Judah offers himself as a permanent slave to save his youngest brother.
Judah stands before the most powerful man in Egypt. A stolen silver cup rests in Benjamin's sack. The governor says the boy stays as a slave while the rest go free. Judah steps forward and speaks. He tells how his father will die of grief if Benjamin does not return home. Then he makes his offer. He will stay and become a permanent slave in a foreign land so the boy can go back to his father. This is the same Judah who once sold another brother into slavery for silver.
The declaration breaks Judah's dark history. Years earlier he sold Joseph to traders for profit and watched his father shatter under grief. Now he stands ready to surrender everything to prevent that same grief from returning. He cannot undo the past but he can change what happens next. The Egyptian governor listens and the disguise falls away as Joseph weeps aloud before his brothers. Judah's words shatter the wall between them and set the family on a new path.
