Micah 1
Micah prophesies against Samaria and Jerusalem, warning of God's impending judgment due to their transgressions. He describes the destruction that will come upon them, including the collapse of mountains and valleys, and the desecration of idols. The chapter concludes with a call for mourning and lamentation.
Micah 2
Micah condemns those who plot evil and oppress others for personal gain. He warns that God will bring judgment against this family, taking away their ability to divide land by lot in the congregation. Micah also prophesies about God's gathering of Jacob and Israel, describing it as a great noise.
Micah 3
Micah condemns corrupt leaders who exploit their power to oppress the people, engage in idolatry, and ignore God's judgment. He also criticizes prophets who deceive the people by speaking falsely for personal gain. The chapter concludes with a warning that Jerusalem will be destroyed due to its leaders' wickedness.
Micah 4
The chapter describes a future time when God's mountain (the temple) will be established above all others, and nations will come to worship there. The law will go out from Zion, and people will walk in God's paths, living in peace without war. However, the city of Jerusalem is currently in pain and labor, like a woman giving birth, and will soon be delivered from its enemies.
Micah 5
Micah prophesies that a ruler from Bethlehem will come to be judge over Israel. He describes the future defeat of Assyria and the remnant of Jacob's people rising among many nations like a lion. The chapter concludes with God's promise to cut off idolatry, witchcraft, and false worship in Judah.
Micah 6
God calls out to the mountains and hills, asking them to testify against Him for His treatment of Israel. He recalls His redemption of Israel from Egypt and asks if they can come before Him with burnt offerings or other sacrifices. Instead, He demands justice, mercy, and humility.
Micah 7
Micah laments the corruption and violence in Judah, declaring God's judgment on those who have abandoned His ways. He expresses his trust in God's salvation and promises that when he falls, he will arise again with God's help. The chapter concludes with a promise of God's restoration and mercy towards Israel.
