Penwortham St. Mary

Preston, England

St. Mary's is the parish church of the Ancient Parish of Penwortham, dating from the 14th century. The church is situated in an attractive setting within ancient woodland despite its urban location. The Chancel originates from the 14th century, while the Tower dates from the 15th century. The Nave was rebuilt and enlarged in the 19th century. The church underwent a significant re-ordering project completed in 2011, during which under-floor heating was installed, pews were removed and replaced with chairs, and exterior repairs were carried out. The church offers two communion services on Sunday and a communion service every Thursday morning. It hosts an active Junior Church program called Sparks and a Messy Church program called FAB (Faith and Belonging).
