Our Lady of Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral_Syro Malabar

Our Lady of Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral is located in the heart of Thrissur town in Kerala, South India. The church features an Indo-European facade with distinctive pink spires. Originally established as a Catholic Syrian Church in 1875 and consecrated as Our Lady of Lourdes Church for Latins in 1885, it was elevated to Cathedral status in 1891. The cathedral was further elevated to Metropolitan Cathedral in 1995. A major architectural feature is the well-decorated underground chapel or crypt. The cathedral attracts thousands of pilgrims monthly and held significant centenary celebrations in 1986 during Pope John Paul II's apostolic visit to Thrissur.
