Malachi 3:1–4:6
Malachi 3 flips the crowd’s hope for God to “show up” into a threat: the Lord’s sudden arrival is an audit that begins at the temple and proves itself not by louder worship but by whether the community stops stealing—through underfunded worship, rigged wages, and sidelined immigrants and widows. In this chapter, “return to God” is shockingly measurable: money and justice are the litmus test of whether people actually want the God they claim to seek.
