Assumption of Moses 6:1-9

¹Kings will reign over them who will be wicked and not of the race of the priests. They will call themselves just, but they will be harsh and wicked.

²And one from among them, a mighty king, will come and make war against them and kill their leaders with the sword; and he will destroy many.

³And in his days a powerful king of the west will come and will conquer them; he will take them captive and will burn a part of their holy house with fire.

⁴He will crucify some of them around their city and will kill them with the sword; and he will lead away many of them in chains.

⁵And he will burn their place and the city and will kill the chief priest who is among them; and he will rage like a lion over the whole land.

⁶And he will destroy them and scatter them throughout all the land; he will make them an abomination in all the earth.

⁷And he will impose upon them a grievous yoke, and his ordinances will be a heavy burden upon them.

⁸For he will compel them to enter their innermost sanctuary and to profane their holy altar with unlawful customs.

⁹And whoever resists will be put to death; and those who receive him will be rewarded with riches.
